1,1'-Biphenyl,4,4'-diiodo- is a white crystal, it can be used as intermediates of liquid crystals. It also can be called Biphenyl,4,4'-diiodo- (6CI,7CI,8CI) ; 4,4'-Diiodo-1,1'-biphenyl ; 4,4'-Diiodobiphenyl ; 4,4'-Diiododiphenyl ; p,p'-Diiodobiphenyl and so on. Other things about 1,1'-Biphenyl,4,4'-diiodo- is that, it is sensitive light. So, it should avoid light.
