Deslorelin acetate, a GnRH agonist which marketed by Peptech with the brand name Ovuplant is commonly used to induce ovulation in cycling mares. Deslorelin acetate which known as an LHRH agonist stops the production of sex hormones. Although its efficacy in hastening ovulation has been previously reported, the effects of age of mare and month of administration on percent of mares responding and interval to ovulation have not been studied. Deslorelin acetate is also used to stabilize high-risk pregnancies. It is primarily used for the initial flare effect upon the pituitary, and its associated surge of LH secretion. Deslorelin acetate is different with other GnRH agonists.
